Like Father, Like Son

Brad's mom sent me this picture of Brad when he was baptized. I think he looks SO much like John in this picture. John's baptism is going to be July 18th, and if it fits, he is going to wear the outfit that Brad has on in this picture. Isn't that neat? I hope it fits!

Summer Time!

I am officially on summer vacation! Whoo hoo! Not that I can really complain, I only had to work for a little less than 2 weeks, and it was actually kind of fun to get back and see everyone. Brad's parents came the second week I was at work, which was so nice. THANK YOU!! It was so nice to not have to worry about taking John anywhere in the morning, dinner was ready for us, the laundry and dishes were done...it was awesome, we were very spoiled. Thank you to my mom too, for taking off work the rest of the days and coming over. John loves spending time with his grandparents!!

John is doing good, it feels like he got so much bigger over the past two weeks! He was supposed to have his 3 month pictures taken yesterday, but Emily, the photographer, was sick, so we are rescheduled for next week. In a way it worked out better because I had to work on Monday, so this gives me more time to get his outfits ready, the house ready, etc.

We had a fun weekend celebrating Father's Day. We had a 1st birthday party to go to on Saturday, and then we just hung out on Sunday and went to my aunt's for a barbecue. John got Brad a Dairy Queen ice cream cake and a picture frame. But the best present of all is that John has been sleeping through the night consistently for the last week! Hopefully this doesn't jinx that, because it has been SO NICE! He has been going to bed around 10:00-10:30, sleeping until around 6:00, then he will go back to bed until around 9:00 or so. It has been so refreshing to get more sleep! Way to go John, keep it up!

This week I am going to try to get myself back into shape. I bought an elliptical and Brad set it up last night, so now there are no excuses! I am excited to get back into a work out routine other than walking. I have lost my baby weight, but my body is definitely different now that I have had a baby. So hopefully I get back into a good groove here for the summer. Wish me luck!

Here are a few pictures from Father's Day and this morning. Look at that strong neck! Tummy time is paying off! Have a great week!

Three Months!

Wow! Another month has flown by. John turned 3 months old yesterday! This past month really went by so fast, and I can't believe how much stronger and cuter he gets every day! He is still growing like a weed. We don't go back to the doctor until four months, but I am guessing he is well over 13 pounds now. He is practically as big as Libby. Libby is such a little peanut, it won't be long until he is towering over her!

I had to go back to work this past week. I was really anxious and nervous about going back, but it actually went really well. I only have another week and then summer vacation, so I can't really complain! My mom watched John two of the days and Brad took last Thursday off so they had a "guys" day. John did great and it was actually kind of nice to get out of the house a little and see everyone I work with and all of my students. The kids at school were/are so cute when they ask about John. I made a little slide show of pictures to show, and they loved it. So I can handle another week. Brad's parents are coming to stay with us and take care of John, so it relieves so much stress to not have to worry about taking him somewhere. I am not ready for daycare yet!

At 3 months, John is doing a really good job of holding his head up. He doesn't have it solid yet, but almost! His tummy time is really improving :) He isn't rolling over, but he has been kicking his legs a lot and has been really grabbing at anything in front of him. His newest interest is my hair. This poses a problem when I feed him because all he wants to do is try to reach for it and laugh. Silly boy!

He has definitely become more independent in the sense that he is content to be in his bouncer, on his mat, or in his swing for a while. He is taking two long naps during the day, and some short cat naps here and there. He has slept through the night twice now, we are hoping that becomes more regular! We really can't complain though, because he has been going to bed between 10:30-11:00 and then sleeps until about 4. He eats then and goes right back to sleep, usually until about 8 or 9. So it really isn't bad!

I am SOOO excited to get his 3 month pictures taken on the 22nd. Emily does such amazing work, they are going to be so cute!!!

Well, I should stop procrastinating and get on with my day. Cleaning, shopping, and a friend's barbecue are on the agenda, so I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Our Weekend in Pictures

We went to my parent's lake house this past weekend for Memorial Day and had such a great time! Brad's parents and sister got to come for the day on Sunday, so we were able to spend time with everyone! John did great! He even slept through the night one of the nights! Whoo hoo! Back home, flying with Daddy!

I can't believe how fast time flies. I have to go back to work next week (just for a week and a half, then I have summer vacation :) and John will be 3 months old soon! I can't believe it has been almost 13 weeks! Today is my last day as a 20 something. Tomorrow I turn the big 3-0! SO much has happened in my 20's and I am so grateful for where I am at right now in my life. I feel very blessed!

Recap

So we have been pretty busy here the past two weeks! Life has been pretty good! Two weekends ago, Brad's parents and grandma came up to see us. John had a great time meeting his Great Grandma Kepfer and seeing his Grandma and Grandpa! We wish they could have stayed longer!

This past weekend Brad went to Florida for a wedding. I really wanted to go, but it was too soon to leave John back, especially with feeding him. We survived though! We spent Friday night at my parents house and then my mom babysat on Saturday night while I went to a girlfriend's bachelorette party. I am so grateful that we live close to family. We really miss Colorado but it is so nice to be 30 minutes from my parents and 3 hours to Brad's family. I can't imagine John not seeing his grandparents that often.

This past week John has transitioned to his crib! YAY! Until now he has slept in his napper on his pack-n-play or his swing. He is getting too big for them now though! I swear, this little guy grows more and more each day. He is almost as big as Libby! He is getting to be SO much fun though. Every day he has a new noise and his little grip is getting stronger and stronger. He is so smiley too, which melts my heart.

I am so excited because I talked Brad into getting his 3 month pictures taken by my sister's wedding photographer, who does amazing work, as my birthday present. She has a package for 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year photos. I knew I wanted her to do his one year pictures, but when I saw this package and was looking at her website (ejphotos.com), I couldn't help it. So June 22nd he will get his pictures taken at our house. Fun stuff!

"My shirt should say #1 CHUNK!"

Well, I think my little man is starting to wake up. Video monitors are the greatest! Have a good week!

2 Months Old!

"We made it Mommy!"

Crazy! When John was first born, everyone kept telling me, "it gets so much easier after the first two months." That seemed like SO long away! But it is true, time really does fly, and it DOES get easier! I wouldn't say we are living on easy street, but it has gotten much, much better. He is such a little boy now, he is the cutest thing ever. We took him for his two month appointment today, and he weighed 12 pounds, 4 ounces (60th percentile), 23 inches long (50th percentile), and his head circumference was 39.2 cm (25 percentile). The doctor was really happy with everything and assured us he was right on track and doing great! He showed off a little for her by lifting his head, grabbing at his blanket, and smiling too :)

At two months, John is really starting to show his little personality. He loves laying on his back, and his favorite is his Ocean mat. He has started to bat at the toys on the overhead bar. Every once in a while he grabs onto one of them and then won't let go. If we put a toy in his hand, he keeps it there. He is still really smiley, especially in the mornings. He is making more coos and "talking" more too. He eats about every 3-4 hours during the day with the last feeding between 11-midnight. Then he will (usually) sleep until around 5 am. He LOVES to eat...I think he would eat all day long if I let him.

He is getting good at keeping his head up. He still has a little bobble head going on when we hold him, but for the most part he can keep it up by himself. He doesn't really love tummy time, but he humors us and lays there without screaming.

He also loves having a bath and has started kicking his legs around in the water. My sister got us swim lessons at Goldfish, a swim school in Birmingham that he can start at four months, so that will be fun if he likes the water! We have come a long way in two months, and I'm sure four months will be here before we know it.

So those are the exciting two month facts! He got three shots today, so he is pretty sleepy right now and hopefully won't be too miserable tonight. We picked up some infant Tylenol on the way home if he needs it tonight. He should be back to his usual self by tomorrow. This week is flying by! This weekend Brad's parents and great grandma are coming to visit, so we are very excited! I hope everyone has a good week! Thanks for reading :)
